Torontonian Leesa Barnes made a brilliant pitch of her podcasting services to author Craig Davidson earlier this week — with a Podonomics blog post!
Davidson, whose first book, The Fighter, is due to be published in late September, said in a recent article in the Toronto Globe and Mail (subscription required) that taking out an advertisement in that paper would be aking to “flush[ing] the money down the toilet.”
He was looking for something better. Enter Leesa.
So, Craig gets it. He knows that he has to do something different to raise awareness about his book.
His publicist suggested a fight in a ring at a said place & time. Of which I said, “That’s tacky.”
I would suggest to this rookie Canadian novelist to try a podcast instead. Craig will reach more people around the world with a podcast as opposed to a ring fight in one city on one night.
So what happened? Well, either Davidson or his publicist is monitoring the blogosphere, because the budding author left a comment to the post saying he wanted to hear more. Leesa now tells me that she and Davidson’s publicist will be talking.
Well done all around, guys. Now let’s see this podcast happen!
