There’s a whole lot of “camping” taking place next month.

In addition to PodCamp Boston on the weekend September 9-10, MobiCamp will be held in Los Angeles on Monday, September 11 and CreativeCamp will take place in Philadelphia on Saturday, September 16.

MobiCamp

MobiCamp will focus on the mobile industry and is being presented by Airborne Entertainment. Inspired by the likes of BarCamp and CaseCamp, it will offer a “no-holds-barred school of mobile thought.”

Presentations must be relevant to the future of the mobile industry and are limited to 10 minutes, with an additional five-minute allowance for questions.

CreativeCamp

CreativeCamp is being organized by the Boston/Philadelphia creative staffing agency CM Access (disclosure: the company is my client) and will bring together its talent for an afternoon of discussion, presentations, and general creative talk. This free event is also open to the public.

“[CreativeCamp] is going to be a great time to share your creative stories with others, and especially to share your expertise and interests! With a proposed emphasis on new media, technology trends, and web marketing, we’ll be able to explore how … we can help push Philadelphia into the forefront of these innovations!

The events serve as fine examples of how businesses can use both the *Camp spirit and tools of Web 2.0 — chiefly, a wiki, which enables the participants to self-organize the presentations — to position themselves as leaders in their industries.
