While my pal Ed Lee is spending his Halloween ruminating over 24 and PR comings and goings up in Toronto, I thought I’d blog about something truly useful: namely, an entertaining alternative for conducting your web searches!
Ms. Dewey certainly, ahem, gives search a whole new look. Type in a word or phrase, and Ms. Dewey will offer up a cute phrase or two. Then, you’ll see search listings. And, get this: just for kicks, Ms. Dewey’s sometimes-pre-programmed, sometimes-random recordings are even relevant to your search term!
OK, to be frank, once you get past the sultriness of Ms. Dewey, (played by Janina Gavankar — and admittedly, that takes at least five minutes — this search assistant becomes somewhat annoying.
But I guess that at least on this day, eye candy can be a pleasant distraction for a short while.
Happy Halloween.

01|Nov|2006 1Ms. Dewey, can you help me find ……
I found Ms. Dewey today via Bryper.com. I love her. I love the idea of mixing a business tool (search) with entertainment. It’s not the fastest search. And it certainly doesn’t have the strongest interface for presenting search results. But…

01|Nov|2006 2You know, this thing cracked me up. Type “Western Cowboy” Or search for a Wille Nelson.

01|Nov|2006 3The “Western cowboy” result was interesting, Tom. Have you tried “Geroge Bush”?

01|Nov|2006 4I saw this but when I tried it I got no results no matter what input I gave it. So I gave up believing it was just a fun toy.
I need to go back and try it to see if I really do get results now that I know others have.
