… I hope I can just be a fraction as eloquent in writing a blog post to him as Michael O’Connor Clarke is in this birthday message to young Ruairi.
This post tugged at my heart strings, to be sure, and I’ll be giving Amani an extra big kiss when I get home tonight.
Michael is a PR pro at Thornley Fallis Communications by day, and that’s how I came to find his blog in the first place. But he also a wonderful way of mixing in so much of everything else that life has to offer in his writing, and that’s what keeps me coming back.

20|Dec|2006 1Thank you, Bryan (and Ruairi says “Hi”
I guess I could be criticised by some for not being more focused in my blogging. We’re often told that, to be a successful blogger, one should stick to some consistent subject domain, or have clear objectives and a sense of overall purpose to one’s blog. Feh. Define “successful”. My brain just doesn’t work like that.
Right from the start, the only consistent thing about my blog is that I write about whatever it is that happens to be holding my attention and interest at that point in time - and I have very broad areas of interest. I’m a bit of a nexialist, I suppose. As my friend Suw has commented about her own blogging habits, “the only unifying theme is the fact that it’s me that’s flitting”.
Of course, the other unifying theme (of sorts) is the fact that what happens to interest me also happens to be what I do for a living - so there tends to be a lot of social media commentary and PR-ish stuff there. Ties it very generally together. Sort of. Many small pieces, loosely joined (as a certain wonderful man would put it.
If that kind of thing is what keeps valued readers like you coming back for more, then I think I’ll keep it up.
Amani, by the way, is utterly, jaw-droppingly gorgeous. May she walk lightly through life, and ever have the wind at her back.

21|Dec|2006 2He! May HE walk lightly through life…
Sheesh. Sorry Amani.
My brain and fingers are not always terribly well connected when leaving comments in the wee hours of the morning.
Ack.
Bryan
21|Dec|2006 3No worries at all, Michael. The compliments are appreciated … and I’ll make sure to show them to Amani one day.
