PodCamp Europe

A post by Chris Brogan yesterday announcing that PodCamp Europe will take place on June 12-13 in Stockholm, Sweden (wish I could go!) got me thinking: where else should PodCamp expand to?

Here are 10 possibilities I came up with during the breakfast hour today:

  1. PodCamp Down Under. Either Australia or New Zealand will do. I’m looking at you, Lee Hopkins, to spearhead this effort.
  2. PodCamp Summer Solstice. Tie in a PodCamp with summer solstice celebrations in a place like Fairbanks, Alaska, where the sun literally never sets from June 20-22. If a baseball game can start in Fairbanks at 10:30pm each year and be played in its entirety without artificial lights, then add a PodCamp into the festivities as well?
  3. PodCamp Carnaval. Brazil is on my Top 5 countries-I’d-like-visit-but-haven’t-yet-been-able-to list. Let’s have a PodCamp there, and incorporate it into the mother of all parties: Carnaval.
  4. PodCamp in the Park. PodCruise Miami will partially be breaking the mold later this year, but to date, PodCamps have traditionally been indoor events. Let’s hold a PodCamp in a public park. All we need are a good sound system and some lawn chairs.
  5. PodCampGround. (Alternate title: PodCamp Pitch a Tent). For a true “camping” experience and to really get outdoors, add in woods and tents. Build a bonfire, grill up some meat, break out the guitar, and talk — or sing? — about podcasting and new media.
  6. PodCamp Disneyworld. Visit Disneyworld with your family during the day, and then PodCamp it up at a nearby hotel or resort in the evening. Requirement: a presentation by at least one of the Disney characters.
  7. PodCamp Across America. (Alternate title: PodCamp Cross Country) If Amanda Congdon, Steve Garfield, and Jamie O’Brien can travel across the country and blog and/or podcast about it, then why not a group of PodCamp enthusiasts? The mission, should you choose to accept it: make a cross-country trek, and hold PodCamp-centric meetups all along the way.
  8. PodCamp Lunch Break. Are you the new-media evangelist at your company, the one who’s trying to teach your colleagues about the benefits of podcasting, blogging, and social networking? How about hosting a series of lunches for your colleagues, then, in which you do just that? Just dispense with the “lunch-and-learn” moniker and use PodCamp Lunch Break instead. And in the spirit of PodCamp, be sure to give your colleagues the opportunity to start leading their own sessions as well.
  9. PodCamp Twitter. How about using Twitter to present a PodCamp session to the online masses? You’ll need to get creative to break your presentation into a series of 140-character-maximum chunks, but don’t let that stop you!
  10. PodCamp Outer Space. Know any new-media-savvy astronauts?
